Tomato - Early Large Red ( Rare)

A very historic variety that was one of the most popular and best documented tomato varieties in North America prior to the Civil War. Fearing Burr in Field and Garden Vegetables of America (1865) wrote "From the time of the introduction of the tomato to its general use in this country, the Large Red was almost the only kind cultivated, or even commonly known." The red heavily lobed or scalloped fruit are flat and usually measure 2½-3" wide. The Early Large Red tomato is best used for cooking. A very beautiful and productive historic variety. Indeterminate, regular leaf foliage. (70 days from transplant) EXTREMELY RARE.
